Training the Next Generation of Business Leadership08/29/2018 Training is one of the most important needs for incumbent workers according to Marshall County employers, as determined through MCEDC’s recent employer interviews on workforce development issues. To address this need, Ancilla College and MCEDC partnered together last fall to work with local businesses and launch the Ancilla College Management and Leadership Training program. In the past year, Ancilla has provided training for four local organizations. Southwire is the most recent business to go through the program; twelve leaders have completed coursework so far, with more expected to register in the future. Ancilla has worked with Southwire to conduct two rotation groups, each with six leaders, lasting six weeks. No other similar program is offered within the Marshall County region, making this a unique opportunity for businesses to access high-quality training at the local level. Ancilla’s program is based on the world-renowned Blanchard training program. This interactive training aims to provide a solid foundation for the personal and professional growth of enrolled employees. The training covers management essentials, building trust, and team performance concepts—giving participants a wide range of areas in which to grow and develop. Ancilla’s training is flexible and can be held on site to accommodate the needs of businesses and workers. The training is available to any interested Marshall County businesses. Ultimately, this program will have a lasting impact in the Marshall County community by strengthening our existing workforce.
