Light at the End of the Tunnel for Aquatic Center

With financing close to being finalized, the highly anticipated Aquatic Center is on track to break ground this summer. This project also includes an Early Child Learning Center, both to be located just off US Hwy 30 near Lifeplex. These projects have been long awaited by the community, especially the pool which is over seven years in the making. The Early Child Learning Center will also serve as an invaluable workforce development solution by providing affordable, high quality daycare and pre-K education to encourage more parents to join the workforce.
The long list of project partners for the Marshall County Life Center includes the City of Plymouth, Ancilla College, Plymouth School Corporation, Marshall County Community Foundation, United Way of Marshall County, Ice Miller, Weigand Construction, Majority Builders, Regional Development Authority, and Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
This will be the first project in Marshall County to be funded by New Market Tax Credits, which will provide $1 million in funding to the Aquatic Center and $2 million to the Early Child Learning Center. The unique financing structure for this project also includes Regional Cities funding, and TIF funds. The closing date on bond financing officially took place on May 17th. Closing of the New Market Tax Credits will occur by the end of May or beginning of June.
