High Speed Rail Line Project Moving Forward

Marshall County is taking part in a project that will increase economic development opportunities and help connect our community to dozens of cities and towns throughout the Midwest. After many years of effort across three states, the Columbus to Chicago high speed passenger rail project is moving forward. The Northern Indiana Passenger Rail Association (NIPRA) and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) have announced that they will be conducting an Alternatives Analysis and Public Involvement Process to examine engineering, and environmental impacts along the proposed rail path. This study is the first major step in making this proposal a reality and is slated to take place from the start of 2017 until the fall. Plymouth is one of the many communities that will have a stop along this route, linking it to Chicago, Fort Wayne, Columbus, and several other Midwest communities. Limited service could begin as early as 2020.
