Economic Development Strategy Pays Off

Snack producer, Pretzels Inc., will be expanding its operations to Plymouth, creating up to 65 new jobs, and investing approximately $15 million to purchase and equip their 45,000 square foot facility. The facility, known as the Commerce Building, was built in 2015 as a shell building in order to attract businesses looking for a quick turnaround time from acquisition to production. After an intensive site selection process over the last several months, Pretzels ultimately chose to expand to Plymouth due to the many strategic advantages offered to businesses who conduct operations locally. This economic development strategy has facilitated the first new business to locate to Plymouth since Zentis Food Solutions did so nine years ago.
After announcing the expansion on September 6th, Pretzels plans to begin operations by the start of 2017. Pretzels Inc. is a family-owned business headquartered in Bluffton, Indiana. The company offers pretzels in over 900 varieties for store brands, private labels and its own Harvest Road products. Its fastest growing product is peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets, which will be produced at the new Plymouth facility. This expansion was made possible thanks to the collaboration of state and local leaders, and Plymouth’s economy will be strengthened as a result.
