Collaborative Effort Guides Marshall Countys Regional Stellar Plan

Public engagement is vital in securing Stellar designation. Our community exceeded expectations when nearly one hundred leaders came together on July 26th to give feedback and enhance the county’s Stellar application. Marshall County was selected as one of the six finalists for the Stellar Regional Designation earlier this year. Since then, the Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Initiative steering committee has generated ten projects that are ready for development and seven additional projects.

This event was held to seek community support on these plans and brainstorm new ones. Participants generated ideas for potential placemaking and health projects and helped identify project champions and volunteers to bring them to life. This meeting demonstrates that Marshall County is engaging in a cooperative effort which is one of the criteria for Stellar designation. Ultimately, this collaboration will help us build a better plan that benefits our entire community.

The steering committee will incorporate the feedback from this meeting into the Regional Development Plan (RDP). Marshall County will continue to meet with leaders to develop, promote, and communicate its plans leading up to the final RDP submission date in September. Stellar designees will be announced in December. Thanks to all Marshall County leaders who participated in the event and continue to show their support for our “Stellar” community.
