Medallion Cabinetry looked to expand operations and better service customers in the eastern part of the US. The search encompassed thirteen states. Some states that didn’t have a definite interest in manufacturing jobs or didn’t have good representation were eliminated early.
According to Craig Fast, Director of Facilities for the Cabinet Division of Elkay Manufacturing (the parent of Medallion Cabinetry), other criteria considered as the search narrowed were labor availability, access to interstate transportation, utility rates, environmental acceptance, and freight cost. Also, in selecting the Culver, Indiana site, the support of IDEM, INDOT, and Indiana Economic Development was particularly important and appreciated. Craig directed the project from his base in Waconia, Minnesota, the headquarters for the Cabinet Division.
Dick Riel, Operations Manager for Medallion Cabinetry in Culver, said that the last and perhaps most important criteria was the welcome from local community leaders. We were impressed with the support we received from Doug Anspach, Kevin Overmyer, Steve Heim, Barkley Garrett, Jon Guenin, and others
from Plymouth and surrounding communities. Medallion Cabinetry has been welcomed with open arms!

Marshall County is certainly quite impressive in its own right. There is more variety of opportunity than might be readily apparent, and more diversity of person and perspective than a visitor might expect. Then there is Culver, the gem of Marshall County.

We are fortunate to have our Culver Academies located here in Culver, behind the corn silk curtain.
Culver is the idyllic small town that offers all of the benefits of small town living: a safe and secure place to raise a family and educate children and a friendly, supportive, and remarkably diverse community. This quality of life also comes with an excellent location, with access to major cities, dependable
