Health Care

Good access to and high quality healthcare is very important to the residents of Marshall County.  There are twelve primary care hospitals located within the eight county North Central Indiana region, and countless specialized clinics, private practices, and pharmacies.  These health care facilities make Marshall County one of the healthiest counties in Indiana.

In early 2011, Marshall County was named one of the top 10 healthiest counties in the state per the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program.  These annual rankings have been published since 2003 through a collaborative health research project between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.  This project measures the current health status of a county through assessing the programs and policies implemented at local, state, and federal levels, reviewing various health factors such as health behaviors, clinical care, and social, economic, and physical environmental factors, and examining health outcomes such as mortality data and morbidity.

More information on the annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program can be found here.
