Argos Site Receives State "Shovel Ready" Designation

Argos, IN (November 18, 2014) - A 75 acre greenfield site, located south of 17th Road and east of U.S. 31 in the Town of Argos, was designated Shovel Ready by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs today paving the way for future development.

The site was purchased by the Town, annexed and rezoned for industrial uses demonstrating the Town’s commitment and foresight to increase the number of jobs for its residents and grow the local economy.

A site is declared “Shovel Ready” through an application process and determination if the site has a base level of defined boundaries with a clear title, an established price, demonstration of executive level local government support, defined utility capacity, and provided documentation such as Phase I environmental assessment, ALTA survey, and wetland delineation.

The Shovel Ready program’s goal is to expedite the business location process by making the sites more attractive to companies and site selection consultants who are looking to locate or expand their business.

The announcement, which took place at the Argos Town Hall, was attended by over 25 officials representing Marshall County, many of its cities and towns, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The Town recognized the Marshall County EDC for their assistance in administering the application process, and the Indiana Municipal Power Agency for their financial support.

The Marshall County EDC congratulates the Town of Argos in achieving this designation.
