On June 2nd, the official ground breaking ceremony was held for the $4.5 million expansion at American Containers, Inc.
Last November, Leonard Isban, CEO, and Mike Isban, President, announced plans to purchase new manufacturing equipment valued at $3 million and construct a 39,000 square foot addition to the south end of the plant on Western Avenue estimated to cost $1.5 million.
Majority Builders have been working on the project for a couple of weeks, but company executives wanted to have an official groundbreaking using the event to thank the city and economic development officials for a personal property and real property tax abatement.
Participants were given a tour of the plant, which is the corporate headquarters. American Container also has plants in Carrollton, Georgia, and Stockton, California. The new manufacturing equipment is capable of printing, cutting, folding, creasing and gluing 12,000 to 14,000 boxes an hour. They do custom order packaging for local companies, regional, national and international customers.
