Transportation Equipment

Among Marshall County's manufacturing sector which employs an estimated one-third of the workforce, there is a further concentration of employment in motor vehicle parts manufacturing and other transportation equipment manufacturing.

This concentration can be attributed to our large established workforce with the training, knowledge, and experience for careers in automotive related industries. Marshall County also has the logistical advantage of being centrally located in the Midwest and adjacent to Elkhart County which is often referred to the "RV Capital of the World." This proximity provides access to a larger regional workforce. Due to these factors, Marshall County has a competitive advantage for existing and potential businesses in this sector.

Marshall County businesses that manufacture automotive and transportation related components specialize in racing tires; rubber seals and trim; miscellaneous fiberglass and plastic components; windows, doors, and canvas products for recreational vehicles; custom painting for recreational vehicles; and radiators and cooling system components.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW), there were 10 businesses in the transportation equipment manufacturing sector in 2017. Below is a listing of major employers in this sector:
